When Olivia turned three months old I noticed she started eating her hand and constantly drooling. Honestly, I didn’t think much of it until we were at a neighbors house for dinner. My neighbor is a seasoned mom of two college boys – I always go to her for advice (or to be talked off a ledge). As we were having dinner and she was watching Olivia she said: “she is starting to teethe.” It wasn’t until then that the drooling, hand eating, and random bits of fussiness made sense. I had no idea that babies could begin teething long before they actually cut teeth.
The next day I bought so many teething toys but Olivia wasn’t a fan. I think she was so little and the toys were so big that they just weren’t comfortable to chew on. It wasn’t until we found these Nuby products that Livey finally started enjoying chewing on something other than her hand.

Teething Toys that Worked
Because Livey loved her hand, I knew right away we had to have the Happy Hands Teething Mitten. I love that this Mitten allowed Olivia to keep using her hand as a teether (since she loves it so much) but prevents her from scratching the inside of her mouth with her fingers. The mitten has an adjustable strap so it fits a variety of hand sizes. Olivia loves chewing on the soft silicone end of the mitten – this material helps soothe the babies gums. Olivia also enjoys the crinkle noise that the mitten makes.
Another favorite is the Nananubs Massager. So many of my friends told me their little ones loved this throughout their teething phase so I knew I had to try it. And it was another success! This is the first teething toy that was small enough for Olivia to comfortably put in her mouth. Along with being a perfect size, the Nananubs has massaging bristles at the end to help soothe Olivia’s gums. These massaging bristles also assist in the eruption of teeth. If you have a little one who hasn’t found the typical large teething toys comfortable to chew on, this Nananubs is calling your name.
When I saw Nuby came out with Muslin Reversible Teething Bibs I also knew these were something we had to try (remember how I said Livey is a drooling machine?). We loved these as well! The muslin material is so soft but it is also lightweight. It is gentle on her skin – which is perfect for wiping off all that drool. Livey also loves chewing on the silicon corner of the bib. It is a win in both of our books! You can find these reversible bibs at Walmart.
